Shopping at the market: fair, healthy, and fun

Fare la spesa al mercato: solidale, sano e divertente

The #shoppingatthemarket I’d like to invite you to do this week begins Thursday, November 22nd with the second edition of Tutti A Tavola – Aggiungi un Posto anche Tu (Everyone at the Table – Add a Place to Yourself) , an initiative conceived by the City of Milan and Identità Golose. The project aims to promote city markets as spaces for socializing and gastronomic culture, while also promoting an important charitable purpose: concrete support for children.

From Thursday, November 22nd to Saturday, November 24th, 2012, at participating municipal markets, you can contribute to the project by adding €2 to your shopping. In exchange, you’ll receive an exclusive recipe book, featuring menus specially designed for the occasion by some of the participating restaurant professionals. For €5, you can also receive a cotton tote bag branded with the Municipality’s logo and a reprint of the first issue of La Cucina Italiana (1929).

This edition puts the little ones at the center: the donations collected will in fact be transformed into fresh products destined for foster homes and associations for the protection of minors , to bring good and healthy ingredients directly to their tables.

The markets and the menus:

Seven city markets will host seven culinary professionals, who have created complete menus for four people with a maximum budget of €20. During certain time slots, they will be present at the stalls to offer advice and discuss the dishes they’ve created.

A conscious expense

Good for those who make it and those who receive it. A concrete action that combines healthy eating, food culture, and social responsibility. Markets are not just places to shop, but true hubs for relationships and ideas.

See you at the market!
